Arrival in Kathmandu|Welcome to Nepal
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel by private vehicle. After check-in, you may rest and recover from your journey or take a leisurely stroll around the hotel to get your first glimpse of Kathmandu’s vibrant atmosphere.

Fly to Paro – Drive to Thimphu
The flight to Paro is considered one of the most spectacular in the Himalayas, offering breathtaking views of majestic mountain peaks. Upon landing, Bhutan welcomes you with fresh, crisp mountain air and a sense of tranquility.
After completing immigration and baggage formalities, our local guide will greet you and drive you to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. En route, stop at Chuzom, where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet. Here, you’ll see three unique chortens (stupas) in Tibetan, Nepalese, and Bhutanese styles. Before reaching Chuzom, glance to the left to spot Tschogang Lhakhang (“Temple of the Excellent Horse”), a 15th-century private temple built in honor of the divine horse, Balaha – a manifestation of Avalokiteshvara.
Upon arrival in Thimphu, check in to your hotel. With a population of about 90,000, Thimphu is the only capital in the world without traffic lights—a city where tradition meets modernity.
In the afternoon, visit the Trashichhoedzong, a striking fortress-monastery housing the King’s throne room, government offices, and the summer residence of the central monastic body.
Later, enjoy a stroll along Thimphu’s main street and local markets. Visit the Local Crafts Bazaar, featuring authentic Bhutanese handicrafts such as hand-woven textiles, thangka paintings, wood carvings, and traditional jewelry.

Explore Thimphu
After breakfast, enjoy a full day exploring Thimphu’s cultural and historical landmarks:

National Library: Home to an extensive collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts.

Institute for Zorig Chusum (Traditional Arts School): Also known as the Painting School, where students undergo six years of training in Bhutan’s thirteen traditional arts and crafts.

Textile Museum: Showcasing Bhutan’s vibrant weaving tradition, considered the country’s most distinctive art form.
In the afternoon, drive about 15 km north to visit Pangri Zampa Monastery, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples (16th century), now home to a monastic school where monks study astrology based on Buddhist philosophy.
Next, visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), which offers sweeping views of the Thimphu valley and hosts Bhutan’s largest statue of Shakyamuni Buddha.
Continue to the King’s Memorial Chorten, built in honor of the Third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Devotees can be seen circumambulating the stupa, spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras.

Thimphu – Punakha
After breakfast, depart for Punakha, crossing the scenic Dochula Pass (3,080 m). On clear days, enjoy panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas and the 108 memorial chortens that line the pass.
Upon arrival in Punakha, check in to your hotel. Later, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, strategically located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. This fortress was the seat of Bhutan’s government until 1955 and remains the winter residence of the central monastic body.
In the afternoon, take a short drive and an easy walk (around 1.5 hours round trip) through rice fields and traditional villages to visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the “Fertility Temple.” Built on a hilltop in the valley, this temple is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley and is a pilgrimage site for couples seeking blessings for fertility.

Explore Punakha
After breakfast, embark on a gentle hike along the Mo Chhu River to visit the beautiful Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, built by the Queen Mother in 1999. This intricately designed chorten is a fine example of modern Bhutanese temple architecture.
Continue to Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, perched on a pine-covered ridge overlooking the Punakha and Wangdue valleys. The main temple houses a 14-foot bronze statue of Avalokiteshvara with a thousand hands and eyes, hand-crafted by Bhutanese artisans. Other deities enshrined include Guru Rinpoche, Shakyamuni Buddha, Zhabdrung, and the Twenty-One Taras.
The nunnery also serves as a center for higher learning and meditation for nuns, providing education in religious studies as well as skills such as embroidery, tailoring, statue making, and thangka painting.

Punakha – Paro
After breakfast, depart for Paro. En route, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan, built in 1627. It now functions as a Buddhist institute.
Upon arrival in Paro, check in to your hotel. After lunch, visit:

Ta Dzong (National Museum): Once a watchtower, now a museum with a rich collection of thangkas, traditional garments, armor, household items, and natural history exhibits.

Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong): Meaning “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels,” this imposing structure features stunning wooden galleries and detailed wall paintings depicting Buddhist cosmology, legends, and symbols.

Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshang)
After breakfast, embark on a memorable hike (approx. 5 hours round trip) to Taktshang Monastery, also known as the “Tiger’s Nest.” Clinging to a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this iconic site is one of Bhutan’s most sacred pilgrimage destinations. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave, sanctifying the site.
Despite being damaged by fire in 1998, the monastery has been fully restored to its former glory.
In the afternoon, drive to the Drukgyel Dzong ruins, a former fortress built to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invaders. On clear days, enjoy a breathtaking view of Mount Chomolhari, known as the “Goddess Mountain.”
Conclude the day with a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, originally built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. It marks the advent of Buddhism in Bhutan.

Paro – Fly to Kathmandu
After an early breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. Enjoy a final glimpse of the Himalayas during your journey. Upon arrival, our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure—you may relax at the hotel, explore the Thamel area for last-minute shopping, or join an optional city tour.

After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, we will arrange your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. Our team will assist you with check-in and bid you a warm farewell.
