Everest base camp trekking route description
The trek to Everest Base Camp begins from Lukla Airfield. It is an incredible journey that takes you through Sherpa villages. The experience brims with excitement and adventure.
The trip will lead us through rhododendron forests and across several high-suspension bridges. These scenic elements await us during our extended trekking period.
As you ascend the mountain slope, the tropical vegetation gradually gives way. Alpine meadows, adorned with yaks, replace the lush greenery.
As you ascend further up, the meadows will eventually give way to lifeless stone plains.
At the end of our journey lies the base camp of the brave mountaineers nestled among the Khumbu glacier at 5364 m.
This desolate area is populated by colorful tents, surrounded by snow-covered rocky peaks that lead to Mt. Everest.
Itinerary of Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek
Day: 1 Arrive In Kathmandu
We will welcome you to Kathmandu airport and take you to your hotel. We will prepare your required documents, such as permits, registrations, etc, to ensure your trip goes smoothly without any hassles. Later, we’ll be organizing a welcome party for you to meet our professional guide. During this time, the guide will provide you with a summary of your Everest base camp luxury trek.
Accommodation: Dwarika Hotel (Five star)
Day 02: Day of preparation for the Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Trek ( Hotel Dwarika)
Welcome to our tour of the city. We’ll start with the 2,500-year-old Swayambhunath stupa, which has a lengthy and fascinating history. Both Buddhists and Hindus treasure this holy site, and it serves as an excellent illustration of how these two religions can coexist in peace.
Durbar Square, the erstwhile royal residence of Hanuman Dhoka, is the next stop on our schedule. We’ll also stop by the Kumari Temple, the Mahadev and Parvati Temples, and the bazaars.
In the late afternoon, we’ll have a group talk to prepare for the magnificent Everest base camp luxury trekking journey.
Day 03: Fly To Lukla And Hike To Phakding ( By Heli )
We had to get to the airport early this morning to catch our helicopter journey to Lukla, a far-flung community at an elevation of 2860 meters.
We will be greeted by porters who will assist with our bags before going to a nearby restaurant for lunch. After that, we’ll travel to Phakding village via cedar and pine forests, Sherpa communities, and the Dudh-Koshi River.
The path will then take us to Phakding village, where we will stay at Yeti Mountain Home after we have over the suspension bridge.
Day 04: Trek To Namche Bazar
Starting in the settlement of Phakding, we’ll stroll through a pine forest and over cable bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. We’ll proceed to Monjo to obtain a Sagarmatha National Park permit before approaching Namche Bazaar.
We spend the night at Namche Bazaar, the commercial hub of the Khumbu Valley. It will help us get acclimated before traveling to the Everest region.
Day 05: Namche To Everest View Hotel And Overnight there
This day is provided for acclimatization – getting used to the highlands, and there is no better way to do this than to explore Namche Bazaar. We will be walking to the Everest View Hotel, perched on top of a mountain with truly extraordinary views. The hike up there takes about 3 hours (it can take even longer if you’re not used to hiking), but once you’re there, it’s worth all the effort!
Day 06: Namche To Tengboche
We’ll stay the night in Namche and then move on to Tengboche, leaving the narrow, winding alleyways behind. We shall take in the first vistas of Ama Dablam a half-hour later.
The famed Buddhist town of Tengboche, located at the base of Mount Everest and offers breathtaking vistas in all directions on clear days, will be our final destination.
We will call off the night in a local hotel in Tengboche for the night.
Day 07: Tengboche To Dingboche
We will travel through the rhododendron forest to the village of Deboche, which has a magnificent panoramic view of the mountains and the long prayer wall of Mani. The road leads us to the villages of Pangboche, famous for the oldest temple in Khumbu – built more than three hundred years ago. Leaving this village behind, we will soon arrive at Dingboche.
Day 08: At Dingboche, Take A Day Off Or Climb Nagerjun Hill
This day is for acclimatization, during which we can relax, take in the view, practice meditation, and learn more about the Sherpa way of life. We might also ascend Nagerjun Hill to prepare our bodies for the next day’s walk.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche
We will travel from Dingboche Valley in our next leg, heading upward. We will then reach Dugla, a village perched on the highland, where we will have lunch.
After that, our trail will take us across loose rocks alongside the Khumbu Glacier, and finally, we’ll walk through the desert for an hour before arriving at Lobuche. It is a large village situated close to the Khumbu Glacier, which descends from the slopes of Mount Everest.
Day 10: Return to Gorekshep After Trekking to Everest Base Camp
We will first glimpse Kala Patthar’s peak on the ascent from Lobuche, beginning with a mountain wall and moraine on one side. The tiny settlement of Gorakshep is nestled in a soft sandy basin at the height of 5181 meters near the base of Kala Patthar.
We will only linger in this village for a short time because our goal is the Base Camp. After a strenuous climb on a rugged path through the Khumbu Glacier, we will attain a base camp with brightly colored tents and prayer flags. After a rest, we will go to Gorakshep, the last place with shelters.
Day 11: Climb Kalapathar And Return To Pheriche
The march will begin early today. Our destination is the top of Kala Patthar (5,644 m), the highest point of the Everest base camp luxury trek journey. Once we have summited the peak, we will come upon a glorious snowy panorama – Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Everest, which will make for a majestic skyline. We will then travel to Pheriche, where we will stay for the night.
Day 12: Return To Namche
After Pheriche, the journey to the life-giving forest begins, which is especially enjoyable in spring when rhododendrons bloom. We will again pass near the famous monastery in Tengboche before starting to descend a lot more and arriving at Namche Bazaar at the end of the day.
Accommodation: Yeti Mountain Hotel
Day 13: Trek Back To Lukla
Namche will be left behind as we depart early. Nostalgia and happiness will converge at the end of our trek. With every meter down, the air will get warmer, and it will be easier to breathe. We will arrive in Lukla by passing through familiar suspension bridges and Sherpa villages.
Day 14: Flight Back To Kathmandu by Heli
