Overview of Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Langtang and Gosaikunda trekking circuits are considered Nepal’s most desired and beautiful trekking. This trek is not considered among the most difficult ones; however, it is still very challenging for beginners.

You will begin your trek in Kathmandu valley and then drive to Syarubesi. After a few days of the trip, you will go toward Langtang village via Lama Hotel, Munelu, and Kyanjing Gompa. You will also be able to witness the beautiful and serene Gosaikundalake and Gosaikunda pass, which is still considered the place with one of the best views in the world.

Langtang Gosaikunda trekking package also includes the trip to Chisapani, Sundarijal and the sightseeing of all the essential and beautiful places of the Kathmandu valley. Itinerary of Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

01
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu

The first day of Langtang Goaikunda Trekking starts with your arrival at Kathmandu airport via flight. We will transfer you to your hotel from the airport and help to check in too.

After taking a short break, you can either stroll around the local area or meet up with your guide and trekking crew. The day will end with dinner and an overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 02: Drive to SyabruBesi ( 145.4 Kilometers )

The second day of the trek starts with the drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu. You will be taken to the destination via bus, which will take seven to eight hours. The view of high hills and mountain line ridges will bring you closer to Syabrubesi. You will eventually cross Dhunche, where you can take a little breather and keep moving forward.

After moving some distance forward, you will cross the Trishuliriver and see the view of Ganesh Himal. You will head toward deep green and yellow lands and finally reach Syarubesi. After a brief stroll, you will stay overnight at the lodge house or teahouse.

Day 03: Trek to Lama Hotel ( 9.1 Kilometers )

After acknowledging the beauty of Syabrubesi, you will visit Lama Hotel on the third day of the LangtangAndGosaikunda Trekking. You will have to travel through wide but carved roads and plenty of twists and turns.

During the trek toward Lama Hotel, you will encounter lots of wildlife, such as cheetahs, panthers, and rare red pandas. Within an hour of the tour, you will reach the Lama Hotel, where you will rest and stay overnight.

Day 04: Trek to Mundu ( 14.7 Kilometers )

Before starting today’s trek, you will rise early in the morning and have breakfast at lama hotel. The destination is Mundu, which is quite a long way to proceed so the trek will begin very early. You will walk through the Gumnachowk forest, and the tour is relatively easy till you arrive at Godatabela, where you can get a first glimpse of Langtang.

You can have lunch in Godatabela and have a breather, after which the walk continues till Thangshyap, where you will see vast green pastures and domestic cattle grazing all around.

After some fresh air and a fruit break, you will come across a suspension bridge in Chyamki. You will come across your first stunning vista of LangtangLirung, where you can take pics for ages.

After a short forward walk, you will arrive in the Mundu village, where you can stay overnight in lodges and guesthouses or start camping too.

Day 05: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa ( 5.7 Kilometers )

On the fifth day of the Langtang and Gosaikunda Trekking, you will have breakfast in Mundu. Today is the short-distance trek towards Kyanjin Gompa, which you will reach in just four hours.

The view is quite stunning here as well. You will reach Kyanjin Gompa before noon, so you have plenty of time to stay fresh and rest in a hotel. In the evening, you can hike towards local monasteries, Gumba, and the town overall, as the place is quite vibrant and amusing. You will stay overnight here and prepare for the trek the next day.

Day 06: Explore Kyanjin Gompa and Trek to Tsergo (Cherko) Ri ( 17.7 Kilometers )

Today our trekking will be towards the highest peak of Lantang Village in TsergoRi peak, where you will see some of the stunning views of the Langtang region and the places around them. You will have breakfast and start the short trek until you reach a lovely stream and waterfall.

You can rest here as you have to climb a steep hill for three hours. After a long trek, you will reach the top of the mountain, where you will see white snow-covered terrain around your surrounding.

You will eventually be rich with very beautiful Tsergo (Cherko) Ri, Gangchembu mountain, Langshisha, and Ganja-La range.

After acknowledging the sheer beauty and stunning vista, you will start descending the mountain and eventually reach Kyanjin Gompa village, where you will stay overnight.

Day 07: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama hotel ( 10.9 Kilometers )

On the seventh day of the Langtang and Gosaikund trekking, we will retrace our step back to the Lama hotel. After breakfast in the Kyanjin Gompa, you will start descending to Lama village till you reach Lamgtang village along the lovely yak fields and pastures.

You will come across a beautiful road where you can easily walk for almost two hours without any difficulty and reach Thangshyap. Retrace more of your step to get to Godatabela and then to Lama hotel, where you will stay overnight.

Day 08: Trek to Thulo Syabru village

After the successful trek of Langtang village, the second trip to Gosaikunda begins here. You will have morning breakfast in the Lama hotel and head towards the small town of Pahiro.

After that, you will move through the bamboo village, and after over five hours of climbing the hill, you will reach ThuloSyabru village.

It is one of the best settlements surrounded by the Tamang family, and they benefit everyone. You can interact with them and enjoy some delicious local Tamang cuisines.

In the evening the time is even more fun so you can stroll around, do some shopping, take part in singing and dancing and stay overnight.

Day 09: Trek to Lauribina ( 10.8 Kilometers )

As you wake up on the morning of the ninth day of Langtang and Gosaikunda trekking, you will witness one of the best sunrises of your life.

The trek today is mainly climbing hills, so that you might feel sore legs or exhaustion. However, the fantastic wind breeze through the mountain will keep your heart pulsing and intrigued as you take further steps forward.

You will head towards Chandhanbari, following the path of the beautiful Rhodendron forest, and a few steps later, you will come across another beautiful village of Lauribina. You can take a breather in Lauribina and visit the local wildlife reservation center, where you will find rare pandas.

You will stay overnight in Lauribina, where you can get another majestic view of the Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, and Manaslu mountains.

Day 10: Trek to Gosaikunda ( 5 Kilometers )

Today is the tenth day of the Langtang and Gosaikunda trekking, where you will head towards Gosaikunda. The path ahead is downward as you will pass through some lovely streams, waterfalls, and pastures. Within four hours of a short trek, you will reach the beautiful Gosaikundalake.

Gosaikundalake is of great significance to the Hindu people, who believe the lake was once worshipped by Lord Shiva, which is why it is believed to be divine. The surrounding place of the lake is also excellent, so you can take tons of pictures there.

You will come across many other lakes, such as Anakund, Dudhkund, BhairavKund, and RagatKund. In the evening, you will check into the lovely hotel in Gosaikunda, where you can have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 11: Trek to Gosaikunda Pass to Thadepati

Another tough day of Langtang to Gosaikunda trekking begins with an early morning breakfast and a walk towards Gosaikundalake.

This time you will take the northern road to head toward Thadepati. You will then start climbing the Gosaikunda pass, and the view of the lake becomes even more spectacular.

You can take a little breather at the top of the pass and descend to Phedi. Further, walk onwards, you will get to the small but amusing town of Ghopte, and just a couple of hours later, you will reach the lovely village of Thadepati, where you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 12: Trek to Kutumsang

On the twelfth day of the Langtang valley trek, you will have an early morning breakfast and head towards Kutumsang. The road is mainly hilly, so you must keep ascending until you reach the beautiful sub-tropical forest.

You will also come across some stunning views of  ShishaPangma and DorjeLakpa. After a brief walk, you will come across Magin Goth and reach Kutumsang at dawn. You can take a short rest and stroll in the beautiful town.

Day 13: Trek to Chisapani

YourLangtang and Gosaikunda trekking is almost ending as you head toward Kathmandu from Kutumsang.

You will make your way through various cultural and religiously essential places while you descend toward Chisapani.

The trek will become even more fun as you enter the Helambu region and get the first glimpse of Chisapani.

You will witness another stunning mountain view as you enter Chisapani and stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 14: Trek to Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu

Today is the second last day of Lantang and Gosaikunda trekking, where you will travel to Sundarijal after having a lovely breakfast in Chisapani.

You will get a fantastic welcome from the lovely sunrise in Chisapani and start trekking down towards Sundarijal.

After a short moment of trekking, you will come across tons of small towns and settlements, reminding you of Langtang valley.

You will reach Sundarijal at noon, have lunch there, and then drive back to Kathmandu in a private vehicle. In the evening, you will check into the lovely hotel in the capital and take a break.

You will have overnight dinner in the hotel and prepare for the sightseeing tomorrow.

Day 15: Sightseeing around Kathmandu

The second last day will be about sightseeing some of the cultural and memorable places around Kathmandu valley.

Many UNESCO world heritage areas exist, such as Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.

There are tons of places to keep you busy and will force you to take pictures as the sights are too fantastic. The hospitality from the people of Kathmandu valley is lovely and will impress you.

You will have an evening dinner in your hotel and stay overnight in your hotel as you prepare to check out tomorrow.

Day 16: Departure

Today is the final day of your Langtang and Gosaikunda trekking. You can extend your stay for additional days; otherwise, you will have an excellent breakfast in the hotel.

We will help you check out of the hotel and then take you to the airport for your departure.

The most appropriate season for the Langtang and Gosaikunda trek is generally in March, April, May, Sept, Oct, and Nov since the weather is also really comforting. Generally, it is advised to travel for the trek during spring or early autumn.
